Mangalore Pub Attack

The recent attack on some girls at a pub in Mangalore has raised some doubts. I would like to clarify that Swabhimaan does not support such hooliganism and moral policing. This group has not been formed for any kind of moral policing. It is for the girls and their parents to decide what they should be doing or should not be doing. Any member of Swabhimaan who indulges in such activities of hooliganism in the name of Swabhimaan will be de-registered from the group and we cannot be held responsible for his/her acts.

This issue is not dying down. There are those that argue that noodle straps, exposing, current movies, fashion shows are all against our culture. Their point is valid and such things should not be encouraged. But to discourage such things, one has to win over the heart and minds of people. As the last resort, legislation can be brought in to bring about such changes. Force as an instrument will fail and there will be backlash against it. If pubs are against our culture, bring a legislation against them. Ordinary people cannot be given the freedom to rough up anyone for any reason, more so for a freedom that is legally given to them. We need to think about other ways by which people can be drawn back to their roots. If you have any suggestions for this, please leave a comment.
The media is not far behind in degrading our culture, including some widely circulated newspapers. They are promoting obscenity. One hand, they shout at top of their voices against molestation and rapes, and on the other hand they carry obscene pictures. They are actually promoting degradation of minds. They cannot always come up and say that minors are also raped and they don't dress up provocatively. It is this kind of content that is thrown at people regularly which aids in development of such heinous and perverted mentality. The media is good enough only for shouting at the top its voice & asserting its rights, but it has never accepted its responsibility.

  1. Of course, the incident cannot be condoned at all. Such acts of violence must be severely punished.

However, in this case, there is more to it than meets the eye

1)Why is it that incidents of such type are repeatedly happening in Karnataka ever since the BJP came to power in the State? Is it being done by anti BJP elements just to show the govt in a poor light and drive away the genteel folk from the BJP in disgust?

2)How come NDTV cameras and OB vans are handily available outside the pub waiting for the perpetrators to go inside and do their dirty work while the cameraman merrily film the proceedings? Were they given an advance notice? If so, are they supposed to alert the police?

3)How come similar incidents of moral policing in other States (recently an acid attack in AP) are not publicized as much?

4)And how come incompetent ministers like Renuka Choudhry (who ignores acid attacks on women in her own backyard since it is her Congress Govt there) rush to TV studios and create a hue and cry without having a BJP representative to counter her allegations of linkage between the perpetrators and the Sangh Parivar?

  2. I think that these are valid questions, at the same time we cannot completely rule out that such independent groups may exist. It could even be a conspiracy. So I think we should also make such loud noises in Congress ruled states, when such incidents happen there.
